The Ordinary Life
A New Poem
Here is another poem that came from a Book of Alchemy writing prompt and this SoulCollage® card:
The Ordinary Life (and the Soul Fire Burning)
SoulCollage® cards can surprise you; you often don’t fully see what you’ve made until afterwards. For instance, I didn’t notice the two small black and white figures in or on the tower arched window until much later.
Even when the world tilts, everything goes cattywampus, and ancient towers threaten to topple; Even when walking requires knee braces and heavy shoes, and just going to the market with your little basket becomes the day's big adventure; Even when the sky is cloudy when you wake up, and the early May morning feels like winter still; Even when unpleasant things are pressing in, or perhaps, even worse, nothing is pressing in at all; Even though you are disappointed that the mark you will leave on the world seems small and insignificant; Even so, persist in fully living your very ordinary but entirely singular life, because beauty still exists, Because if you stop, close your eyes, and look within, you will see that your soul fire still blazes bright, More vivid and colorful than the stark black and white choices you seem to be offered. Old and ordinary as you feel, know that you are enough. No, you are more than enough. This life - and you - are plenty.
